A nice hike to a summit in the Santa Rita Mountains, organized by our local chapter of the Sierra Club, showing a region where the U.S. Forest Service is considering a mine (Rosemont Copper), but hopefully will be persuaded to preserve it. A hike part way up the Finger Rock trail in the Catalina's on Christmas Eve, 2002. A hike all the way up to the base of Finger Rock itself, with my friend Joe in late March 2003. There are also two QuickTime Movies (video only): one (that's Joe snoozing) and two. A hike in Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park to Halepe on the coast. In addition, please see these panoramic images. A stroll through part of the Cactus Forest area in Saguaro National Park (East) to photograph as many Hedgehog cacti as possible. Hutch's Pool, the "best pool in the Catalina's", on a hike from Sabino Canyon. The Big Island has it all, including a real desert, about 12 miles across! A gonzo adventure in the Huachuca Mountains of Southern Arizona. An approximately 25-mile full-circle with about two miles of total vertical elevation change. The Napau Crater trail in Hawaiii Volcanoes National Park crosses the Maunu Ulu lava flows, intersects several craters, plunges through rainforest, and permits a view of the currently active vent. Several photos from a brief hike part of the way into Pima Canyon in the Catalina Mountains. A short steep hike with spectacular views of the city. More images from Pusch Peak, my favorite hike in the Catalina Mountains. Several panoramic images are also worth checking out. Punalu'u is a spectacular black sand beach on the big island. A couple of panoramic images turned out pretty nice. A hike along the upper slopes of Mauna Loa. Lots of eroded lava flows; pretty boring pictures unless you're into geology!. Also a few panoramic images too. Hiking to Romero Pass in Tucson's Catalina Mountains (Jan 6, 2003). A day in January of 2007 when it snowed in Tucson... and stuck! An annual gathering in the desert to celebrate the end of the holiday season.
